My name is Rebecca and I am a blog-oholic. I absolutely love blogs. As I wrote about before, my absolute addiction began while waiting for Ella’s travel date. I’m pretty internet savvy, but didn’t really realize the wild world of blogs until around the time that we started getting seriously into our adoption process. The blogs that I followed were cathartic, helping me through the roller coaster of emotions that adoption brings. Reading about families who had already come home with their children, and above all else, seeing their gorgeous little faces, helped me realize what lay in store for me. Little do the authors of those blogs know just how much they touched me and shaped my experience.
Blogs are basically internet journals. They are mainly public avenues for the author to share their opinions and experiences with the world. Many adoptive parents start blogs to keep their family and friends up to date on their adoption journeys. The incessant “Have you heard anything yet?” can really grate on a waiting parents’ nerves, and it can be much easier for the impatient loved one to be able to check a blog every day (or many times a day!) Having a blog was incredibly wonderful to me while we were in Viet Nam adopting Ella. Being able to share stories and post pictures helped me feel more connected to those on the other side of the world, and I know they were all beyond thrilled to be able to follow our story right along with us.
I know many of you readers here are new to the world of Viet Nam adoptions, and reading others’ experiences is an excellent way to learn more about different agencies, different parts of Viet Nam and the process as a whole. To help us all navigate the blogosphere a little easier, I would like to create a blogroll for any and all Viet Nam adoptive families who would like to be included.
