Get ready Viet Nam…we’re coming back!!! And we are so excited! We actually made our decision a few months ago, but I wanted to wait until the ball really got rolling until I shouted the news from the blog mountaintop. So here it is: We are adopting again!

Here’s how this all came to be…a few months after we returned home with Ella, we learned that our agency Asian Children Services was phasing out their adoption program to focus on their humanitarian work in Viet Nam. I was absolutely crushed. Granted, we had only just gotten home, were not anywhere near the point of thinking about adopting again, but my gut reaction to the news made it clear that I was already sure that we would adopt from Viet Nam again, and wanted to work with them. It literally took me months to get over the fact that we would have to research and find a new agency to work with someday; whenever that someday might be.

Then over the summer I got an email from our agency’s director that was sent out to all of their families updating us on their work, and announcing that they would be accepting a very short list of families who wanted to adopt again. This opportunity was offered to existing Asian Children Services families, and it’s my understanding that the list filled up rather quickly. I emailed her back right away and moaned about it being too soon for us and wondering if they might continue to take on a limited number of families in the years to come. Just having the possibility of working with them again made me giddy. Again, at the time of the email my husband and I just kept saying it was too soon and we weren’t ready yet.
