There are many festivals planned across the country to celebrate Tet Trung Thu (Mid-Autumn Moon Festival.) Below you will find a sampling of events, but if you are unable to find one near you, why not throw your own celebration? If you belong to your local Families With Children From Viet Nam group, I’ll bet there are other families who would be interested in starting an annual tradition to celebrate and honor the moon and our children.
The Westminster Rose Center in Westminster, California will be hosting a 2007 Orange Moon Festival for Tet Trung Thu. It will be held this Saturday September 22 at noon. In California, San Francisco’s Chinatown will hold their annual Autumn Moon Festival street fair this weekend, Saturday and Sunday September 22 and 23 from 11am-6pm each day. Head to Grant Avenue and Pacific Street to enjoy a weekend long celebration with dancing, shopping, great food and much more. For more information, please click here.
The Plymouth Cultural Center in Plymouth, Michigan will be home to a Mid-Autumn Moon Festival next Friday, September 28 from 6-8pm. There will be Vietnamese lantern and paper making crafts, a lantern parade, cooking demonstration and story telling, among other fun activities planned. Please click here for more information.
Town Point Park in Norfolk, Virginia will host a Mid-Autumn Moon Festival this Saturday, September 22. There will be traditional food available, dance performances and a great opportunity to meet and celebrate with others from the community. For more information, please click here.
The Vietnamese Culture and Science Association will be holding their Mid-Autumn Moon Festival on October 6. The VCSA is based in Houston, Texas and has chapters throughout Texas, California, Washington D.C. and Canada.
