Today’s Love Thursday post is all about family support and how much I appreciate it. As a ridiculously sensitive person I am acutely aware of the people who choose not to be very active in my family’s life, but I am also guilty of taking for granted those who are active and supportive and loving to my husband, Ella and I.
Since living with my parents and my grandmother, our lives (when it comes to Ella responsibilities) have been made markedly easier. There are now three other adults who are clamoring at us for time with Ella. They want to take her walks, push her on the swing, read books with her and just get all the Ella time that they can handle. It is absolutely endearing. And as much as I appreciate the help and support, I think it is benefiting Ella ten fold. She is developing such strong relationships with her grandparents and great grandma, and I think those relationships will endure.
While lounging on the couch one evening not too long ago, my dad came home (into a room on the other side of the house where we could not see him.) Well, Ella heard his voice and exclaimed “Pop pop!” jumped right off of me and ran to greet him. There are times that I take Ella with me to pick up her great grandma at her day center for people with Alzheimer’s Disease and she literally squeals when she sees her in the crowded room. And forget about grandma….I’m still not over the fact that Ella will push right past me to get to her favorite playmate.
I am extremely grateful for those who have embraced me and my family with such open arms. It is something I notice daily, but don’t always take enough time to share my feelings. Luckily, as a blogger I have Love Thursdays to help me take a step back and send out my thanks to those who this post is all about.
