Our Valentine’s Day started off as a wonderful day. My husband; a teacher, had a snow day due to the snowy, icy roads. So it was really nice to have him home. He got up with Ella and I got to sleep in a little bit. When I got up he told me that she had taken two real steps! She’s been kind of falling into objects as she steps before, but these were real, solid steps!
After I had been up for awhile we decided to see if she would walk to me with me and daddy cheering her on. And she DID!!! She officially walked on her first Valentine ’s Day; just a few days after she turned ten months old! She took a good five or six steps between her daddy on the floor and me sitting in a chair across from them. And she did it about five times in total! We were (and still are) ecstatic and Miss Ella is just tickled with herself!
She starts out by steadying herself and then she puts her little hands out and waves them around by bending at the wrist and then her face erupts into an enormous smile and she’s off! She is fascinating. It really is amazing. I mean, of course I knew she would learn to walk, but to actually witness it is amazing. And the fact that my husband was home and we got to share this huge milestone is so awesome.

We practiced her walking a little more the next day and today and she’s doing so well! I’ve seen her practice standing up from a seated position and she’s letting go of objects and checking to make sure she can still stand solidly :) She is so thrilled with this new talent that I’m sure she’s going to be showing it off more and more. What a wonderful Valentine’s Day gift!
