Happy Tet Trung Thu! Since a very large part of the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival is to celebrate children, I have been thinking about how to make this day all about Ella. Then I realized that everyday is all about Ella, so how could I make this one special? Here are some things that we're going to try to do today:

  • Have a breakfast picnic on the floor in the living room. To get in the spirit of honoring the moon, we値l start the day with some full moon shaped Kix cereal. She痴 been on a huge Kix craze lately!

  • She痴 too young to make lanterns or any real crafts, but enjoys coloring, so I値l draw some pictures of lanterns and the moon for her to color on.

  • Go on a walk, look at the changing leaves, acorns and such.

  • Have her help me with the mooncakes, and let her try out the batter before anyone else is allowed.

Two of Ella痴 other favorite foods at the moment happen to be round in shape also (veggie dogs and grapes,) and since today is about honoring the moon as much as it is about honoring children, she値l have them as part of her lunch. Of course, they値l be cut up and not round anymore, but you get the idea!

Looking at this list, it sounds pretty much like every other day, but it was fun to think of a few little things to do to celebrate Tet Trung Thu. As she gets older, we will be able to add more and more things to our list and see which things get carried over year to year and become our family痴 own traditions.

I値l be sure to post about how successful my mooncakes are tomorrow. Hopefully, they値l be so good that we値l gobble them all up in one day!

Have a wonderful day everyone!
