Learning about your child’s province in Viet Nam is one way that you can pass the time between receiving your referral and waiting to travel. One thing that I regret is that the only time we spent in Ella’s province was at her baby center and the Giving and Receiving ceremony. I wish we had thought to take a day or two to travel back to Bac Giang and do some exploring. Researching your child’s province now, before you go to Viet Nam, can give you some ideas about the area and possible sites you would like to visit. I would also recommend learning more after you get home to give you more of an understanding of where your child spent the first part of their life.
Start at this web site, which lists all of Viet Nam’s provinces. The advertisements are annoying, but once you get past them, this site gives great links for each province. This is a great starting point for basic provincial information.

Select your child’s province from this web site’s drop down menu and (if you’re anything like me) you will be pleased with the information you will find. One of my favorite features of this site is that for each province they provide internal links to “Tourist Places” so you can learn more about popular sites that you may wish to visit.
- One of the best features of this web site is the detailed map of Viet Nam’s provinces. When you click on the province you want to learn about, this site provides with some basic information as well as local attractions and places to stay. The links in the main part of the page don’t seem to work consistently, but the buttons at the top left of the page will take you to your destination.
