In an ongoing effort to help parents learn more about their child's province, I'm devoting separate posts to individual provinces. If you can arrange it so you can spend some time in your child's province while you are in Viet Nam, you'll come home with amazing experiences that you will be able to share with them when they're older. And if you're already home like me, it can still be nostalgic and informative to learn all you can about where your child spent their early days.
Ha Tinh is located in North Central Viet Nam and is a hilly/mountainous region with 14 rivers and a beautiful coastline with many beaches to choose from.
The province is affected by monsoons. November-April is their cold, rainy season and May-October is the hot, dry season.
Ha Tinh holds strongly to its folk culture, celebrating many traditional festivals each year and preserving traditional folk songs.

Places to Visit:
Dong Loc Road Junction – a touching monument resides at this junction in memory of ten women who were killed during an air attack by the Americans during the war. They were volunteers who were assigned the job of keeping the intersection of two main roads open for supplies to be able to get through. The less than 20 kilometer section of road was hit with 2057 air bombardments and these young women worked to open the roads after each hit. The monument recognizes their sacrifice to the people of the region and country.
Vu Quang Forest in Huong Khe-this forest reserve is home to many different animal species. This thick jungle habitat was home to the first discovery of a new mammal; a new species of ox, in 1993.
- Thien Cam Beach - located in the Cam Xuyen district, this beach is a popular tourist spot. You can relax on the beach as well as explore the Yen Lac Pagoda, a site that has been preserved by the Vietnamese government.
