Did you all know that we have our very own
Viet Nam adoption forum on the adoption.com website? If you haven’t made your way over there yet, I would encourage you to do so. Feel free to lurk, post, ask questions and daydream as you read about other family’s Viet Nam adoption experiences.
I have long been a huge advocate of online forums, and this one (due to its Viet Nam focus) is of special interest to me. Forums provide prospective adoptive parents (PAPs) and adoptive parents alike a place to vent, celebrate with and learn from others in similar situations.
When PAPs come to me with questions about agencies and how to choose one to work with in Viet Nam, I try to always remember to advise them to talk to other parents. Parents who recently worked with a particular agency are a wonderful resource and will provide current, first hand information. There is a wonderful and helpful feature on this site:
the Agency Feedback PM List. Parents post to this list if they are willing to discuss their experiences with their agency with others. This is a great jumping off point for those researching agencies! Adoption.com’s Viet Nam forum is made up of parents who worked with many different agencies, and they are only a private message away.

Like I mentioned earlier, forums also provide parents a place to daydream and learn from others who have been in your shoes. If you are waiting for your referral, waiting to travel or are already home with your little one, you will likely find a family a step or two ahead of you in the adoption process. You can follow their experiences and get a taste for what may lay ahead for you (and gush over how cute their kiddos are!)
Please join us over at the Viet Nam Adoption Forum…the more, the merrier!
