I have started to work on Ella’s adoption video and it has brought me right back to those first days in Viet Nam; meeting our daughter, getting to know her in the hotel, exploring Hanoi. Although it wasn’t all that long ago, our time there seems like ages ago and I am so grateful to have those videos to bring me back, and to one day let Ella see our first weeks together.

Today’s Love Thursday post is inspired by Ella’s reaction to watching some video clips of our time in Viet Nam. A few days ago I brought my laptop out into the kitchen to do some editing while she ate lunch. I had the screen turned towards her so she could watch. When the film showed our first meeting in her baby center in Bac Giang, she started kicking her feet and yelling “Da Da!!! Da Da!!!” with the goofiest smile on her face. She was so excited to see her daddy on the screen!

As her infectious giggle made me laugh too, I noticed how scared and curious she looked on that day back in October. I hadn’t noticed that at the time, but watching the video I could see how this baby must have been in shock and my heart just broke for her. She had not idea who we were and why we were taking her from her home.

But fast forward almost eight months and all that baby can see is her Da Da who she adores. The mere sight of him sends her into joyful squeals and makes her so incredibly happy. You can’t watch her reaction without smiling. Little did she know and little did we know the amazing relationship we would all form in such a short period of time. It really is amazing.
